The project was implemented in the summer of 2007, with financial support from the Civil Society Development Foundation (FDSC) to which various businesses and individuals also contributed with donations.

Organizing a “survival camp” was a new and innovative ay to involve HIV positive teenagers in educational activities, adapted to the specific 14 to 18 age segment culture.

During the 5 camping days (5 – 10 August), 20 HIV positive young people from Dambovita and Olt counties learned to better communicate, fit in a team, get organized, manage their resources, take responsibilities and get involved, together with the other team members, in fun and interactive activities. In other words, to be independent and responsible.

Together with the RAA project team, as organizers, the 20 young people who went camping to Straja, Parang Mountains, learned what spare time management is, how to organize the living space, budget management etc.

For most of the campers at Straja, this experience was a wholly new one, interesting and challenging at the same time. Independent living continues to represent a close perspective as the young people either wanted their own family or wanted to leave their parents’ home in order to continue their studies.
